1986 mercedes-benz w126 560sel executive sedan. I am the third owner, but only second family to own this car. All original with exception to the aftermarket wheels and tires, and clarion radio, but have the factory parts to go with when sold. This was the "bankers hotrod" as it was called back in the 80's and the most expensive benz on the market with a sticker price of $60,000. It has a couple cracks in the dash which is hard not to find on this model, and the interior has a couple splits starting in the stitching on the top of the rear seat, and the drivers seat. Car has never been painted, or molested, and is a true original car. 2009 dodge challenger review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The new modern classic musclecar is a home run, in spite of the times. introductionafter a hiatus of more than 30 years the dodge challenger returned as a new model for 2008. And chrysler's biggest styling hit since the pt cruiser promptly sold out. Style rules, yet asks few compromises. Some will opine about the timing of the dodge musclecar's return, while others will note chicken little was last seen impaled in a viper grille somewhere. Others still, not content to leave anything alone, will buy the r/t as the basis for their next hot rod and blow all the money saved on an srt8 on more power, accessories, and modifications. The r/t can be used as a daily driver, at least for shorter distances and fuel consumption, and will compete with the mustang gt, over which it has both advantages and disadvantages. Challenger r/t runs a 5. 7-liter hemi v8 rated at 370 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque with the standard five-speed automatic; power increases to 375 hp and 404 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel with the optional six-speed manual/track pak group. The srt8 is fast, stable and ready to go to any track, dodge's fastest car this side of the twice-the-price viper. Not challenger-distinctive in appearance, it does offer the same rumbling v8, rear-drive musclecar recipe (without a manual gearbox option), and again like the challenger, good independent suspension and brakes for about the same price as an r/t.  challenger features an entirely new body, but many of its parts, systems and structures are shared with the chrysler 300 and dodge charger (and magnum). Options include leather upholstery, eight-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, moonroof, disc changer and navigation with real-time traffic, 276-watt boston acoustics audio system, 18-inch aluminum wheels, compact spare tire, abs and electronic stability control and traction control.  challenger r/t 29,320) features a 5. 7-liter hemi v8 rated at 370 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque with a five-speed automatic. R/t adds heated outside mirrors, body-colored rear spoiler and mirrors, metal fuel filler door, leather-wrapped wheel and shifter, illuminated visor mirrors, dual chromed rectangular exhaust pipes, and fog lamps. Mechanical upgrades to accompany the added power include 18-inch aluminum wheels and wider tires, stability control, bigger antilock brakes, and firmer suspension. Options include leather upholstery, navigation system, 368-watt boston acoustics audio system, bi-xenon headlamps, 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels, hood-into-fender stripes and functional hood scoops, keyless go, remote start, compact spare tire, homelink, a trip computer with performance pages (128 functions total), and steering-wheel audio/data controls. The track pak 995) adds a six-speed manual gearbox with twin-disc clutch and pistol-grip shifter, limited-slip differential, load-leveling shocks, performance steering, hill-start assist, bright pedal covers and different mufflers.  challenger srt8 39,320) has a 425-hp 6. 1-liter hemi v8, brembo brakes, a special suspension, and a limited-slip differential. Many bits optional on the r/t are standard here, including a better audio system, bi-xenon headlamps, trip/data computer, leather, keyless go, and sirius satellite radio. The srt8 rear spoiler is flat black, the front spoiler deeper and ducted for brake cooling, hood scoops are functional, the fuel filler is polished aluminum, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels and heated sport seats are standard. Options are the track pak, 522-watt 13-speaker kicker audio system, navigation, hood stripes, remote start, and high-performance staggered-size tires.  safety features on all challengers include dual frontal airbags and side curtain airbags front and rear. Antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control and traction control are available on the se and standard on r/t and srt8. walkaroundthe challenger is the third in chrysler's triple-play of styling hits, following the retro-look pt cruiser and the chrysler 300/dodge magnum/charger from which it's derived. It was unanimously praised by on-lookers as a cool-looking car and is as faithful to the original as has been done in recent years.  part of the challenger's appeal comes from its commanding presence; it's a big car. The challenger is also about 10 inches longer than the ford mustang, its closest competitor until the chevrolet camaro returns.  unlike most new cars, the maximum width is carried well out to the ends resulting in a broad, menacing car. The very wide, horizontal grille, spoilers and tail lamps accentuate the width, as does a turret-like roof and window treatment, and the haunches over the rear wheels where the roof fairs into the trunk and the character line kicks up. The proportions all seem just right, from the carrier-deck expanse of flat hood larger than most modern pickups, to the foot-high side glass and dark lower body trim, and into the massive rear roof pillars.  the major lines are only part of the equation, with details just as well executed. Where signals rode below the bumper on the '70 the new one has fog lamps, and careful sculpting has maintained the classic look without destroying aerodynamic efficiency.  from the side, the srt8's 20-inch wheels frame bright red brake calipers and slotted discs and fill large fender openings that are creased along the edges. Hood scoops carry hemi badges on v8 cars and are functional in that cool air goes in or warm air vents to atmosphere, but they do not feed cold air straight into the engine; the ducts in the spoiler direct cooling air to the front brakes and small winglets at the front wheel openings better define airflow. The fixed side rear windows do not allow the full open hardtop of the original with its frameless doors but in a nod to that look dodge kept the pillars behind the glass so they aren't so obvious. A bright fuel filler cap on r/t and srt8 finishes off the driver's side. The door handles look retro and stylish, but they're hard to grab.  out back, a full-width panel of red lights with a pair of backup lights wedged in the middle of it, along with chrome dodge lettering in a font right out of 'that '70s show.' while only the outer pairs of bulbs light for brake and turn functions, the entire width is used for tail lights. 2008 hyundai sonata review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. That means it's roomier in almost every dimension than most of its mid-size competitors, with a full-size edge in creature comfort.  for enhanced safety, the sonata comes standard with electronic stability control, and it has earned the federal government's top five-star crash-test rating for front and side impacts.  for 2008, the sporty se has been upgraded with high-performance tires, a decklid spoiler, and an eight-way power driver's seat. The 2008 sonata limited model comes standard with the super-deluxe stereo that was optional last year. And xm satellite radio comes standard on all 2008 models. Otherwise, sonata is not significantly changed since it was totally redesigned for 2006. lineupthe 2008 hyundai sonata comes in three trim levels. The v6 comes with a five-speed shiftronic automatic.  sonata gls 17,670) is the base model. It comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, cruise control, power heated outside mirrors, power windows, central locking with keyless remote, am/fm/cd/mp3 stereo with six speakers, xm satellite radio, a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel, 60/40 folding rear seat, and 215/60r16 tires on 16-inch steel wheels. The same package is available with a power tilt-and-slide sunroof 1,550).  sonata se 19,570) comes with larger disc brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with 215/55r17 all season performance tires, eight-way power driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, leather-wrapped shift knob, tilt-and-telescope leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, solar-control glass, fog lights, automatic headlights, chrome window belt moldings, and a trip computer. A chrome center-bar grille, chrome-accented exterior door handles, and new aluminum bodyside moldings identify limited from the outside. Wheels and tires are the same size as those on the se, but use a different tread pattern. For 2008, the infinity am/fm/xm/6cd/mp3 stereo with six speakers, subwoofer and component amplifier is also standard. The limited v6 24,170) is similarly equipped. A power tilt-and-slide sunroof 900) is optional.  safety features on all sonatas include the mandatory dual-stage front-seat airbags; front-seat side-impact airbags for torso protection; and full-coverage side curtain airbags designed to provide head protection. Antilock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd) and electronic stability control (esc) with traction control also come standard, as does a tire-pressure monitor. walkaroundunchanged in appearance since its 2006 redesign, the front fascia of the hyundai sonata remains refreshingly clean and spare, with sharply angled headlight housings and a quiet, clean-cut grille topped with a sliver of chrome. Wide and deep openings beneath the front bumper provide a home for tightly focused fog lamps and visually pull the front end closer to the ground, while directing cooling air into the radiator. The striking, concave hood reduces the car's perceived mass without cramping the engine compartment.  the side treatment avoids the all too common wedge look with an almost horizontal beltline riding above softly shouldered fenders and door panels. The flat-flanged rims on the up-level 17-inch wheels suggest a high-end european import more than an affordable asian nameplate.  the taillight outlines repeat the headlight shapes and bookend a broad, trapezoidal license plate inset. Again, there's a hint of other cars' architecture, most notably current camry and accord models. Sporty, california hot rod-idiom dual exhausts mark the v6-equipped versions.  the hyundai sonata hasn't yet found its signature design cues, but its designers are looking in the right places. interiorhyundai upgraded the standard cloth upholstery in the gls and se for 2008, but otherwise, sonata's interior remains unchanged.  the overall look is clearly competitive with most in the class and better than some. Some rough edges on a few plastic molds and a less-than-lustrous finish on some dash panels are the only shortcomings we noticed.  a polished, hard-surfaced applique underlined with a thin slice of chrome divides the upper and lower halves of the dash. The upper is a glare-absorbing dark color, the lower a space-enhancing light tone. The passenger airbag enclosure is seamless, a trend in high-end midsize sedans.  as with many modern cars, the stereo head is fully integrated into the dash, making difficult any aftermarket customizing of the sound system but adding an upscale touch. Air conditioner controls are mounted beneath the stereo, within the accent trim centered in the lower portion of the center stack. Stereo and air conditioner controls are substantial, finger-friendly, intuitive knobs and buttons, with status and selections clearly displayed in their respective lcds.  three round dials in the hooded instrument cluster communicate the bare necessities of operational data to the driver. The largest is the speedometer, nestled inside a polished circle. To its left is the tachometer, to its right conjoined water temperature and fuel gauges. In the lower dash to the left of the steering column is a bank of five switch plugs, only two of which are employed in the u. Version; one is an on/off for the esc, the other the dash-light rheostat. Beyond that is a flip-down storage bin. The ignition key slides into a slot placed where it should be, in the dash to the right of the steering column instead of on the steering column itself, easier and more elegant when starting or shutting off the car.  all models get a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Redundant controls for the audio (optional on gls, standard on se and limited) are appended to the lower left-side of the hub. On the other side of the hub are the standard cruise controls, with a helpful cancel function. Hyundai says the audio controls will be improved by the end of the 2008 model year.  outward visibility is good, although the wide c-pillars constrict quick, over-the-shoulder traffic checks for lane changing. Rear side windows roll all the way down, thanks to small, fixed, rear quarter windows that move the windows' rear tracks forward in the door, ahead of the wheel well. There's a roof-mounted, hinged assist handle inside every door.  seats are comfortable, with adequate bolstering for the style of driving to which the sonata aspires. The limited model's leather adds a touch of class without pretending to be luxurious. The height adjustment on the driver's seat, both manual and power, pivots on the seat's front mounts, which effectively moves the seat forward as it rises. This compels taller drivers to choose between rearward seat travel and forward sightline, not always a happy compromise. On the upside, this adds inches to rear-seat legroom behind the driver, one of the multitude of measures in which the sonata generally bests its competition. Sonata comes in second to the new honda accord in front and rear headroom, and to the toyota camry in rear-seat headroom, and by a mere one- to three-tenths of an inch. And of the second-tier competitors, the kia optima alone betters the new sonata and then only by three-tenths of an inch in front seat hip room. In short, the sonata is among the roomier cars in its class.  rear seats are accommodating, with the bottom cushion in the center position only minimally higher than and nearly as well padded as the outboard positions. Both rear outboard seating positions have adjustable head restraints, as do the front seats. The rear seatback is split 60/40 and folds to allow the transport of long objects, such as skis and snowboards or gardening tools.  storage bins and cubbies are. driving impressionboth engines in the 2008 hyundai sonata engines incorporate some of the latest developments in variable timing of intake v. 2006 cadillac cts review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. More sport for the great american sports sedan. introductionthe cadillac cts kicked off a renaissance at cadillac and once and for all dispelled the idea that american luxury and sports sedan are mutually exclusive concepts. With sporty handling, exhilarating acceleration and powerful braking, the cts is a sports sedan in the truest sense.  introduced as a 2003 model, the cts launched an edgy new styling theme at cadillac and immediately grabbed the spotlight. The automotive press praised the dynamic qualities built into its superb rear-wheel-drive chassis. A torrent of new models has followed from cadillac, all very good in their own right, but the cts set the mold.  since its launch, the cts has been improved and refined. For 2006, a new sport performance option enhances its sporting character, while a sport appearance package can give every cts the look of the mighty, corvette-powered cts-v. These options complement the new generation of v6 engines and transmissions introduced for 2005.  all of the cts drivelines are smooth, quiet and powerful, with the latest technology and advanced electronic controls throughout. Yet the manual is remarkable for its smooth shifting and easygoing clutch. The cts-v is a great hot rod, but the other cts models are far more pleasant for daily driving.  we love the cts's balance of good ride quality and fine handling. We haven't been happy with its austere interior, but cadillac has tried to soften it a bit and make it more inviting. It has helped reacquaint the world with cadillac's century-long tradition of technology and design innovation. In short, the cts presents a real, uniquely american alternative to traditional class leaders like the bmw 3 series and audi a4. lineupthe 2006 cadillac cts is available with two engines: a 210-horsepower, variable valve timing 2. 8-liter v6 30,515) and a 255-horsepower 3. 8-liter vvt v6 33,160). The package also includes xenon high-intensity discharge headlights. A new sport appearance package includes all the performance gear in performance package and lots of appearance tweaks: unique 18-inch wheels, restyled rocker moldings, dual exhaust tips, wire mesh grille work and a rear spoiler. In short, it's the look of the crazy-fast cts-v for less money.  the dvd navigation system 2,995) includes xm satellite radio with a three-month subscription and a bose stereo upgrade with six-cd changer and eight speakers, plus the new xm nav traffic system, which delivers real-time traffic flow information straight to the nav screen. Popular stand-alone options include a power glass sunroof with one-touch operation 1,200), the bose stereo and cd changer 1,000), and a split-folding rear seat 400).  the limited-production cts-v 50,675) comes stuffed with the 5. 7-liter ls6 v8 engine developed for the chevrolet corvette, generating 400 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. This monster engine comes mated to a tremec six-speed manual gearbox (sorry, no automatic option here). The package includes big brembo brakes and other high-performance tweaks.  safety features on all cts models include active features such as traction control and anti-lock brakes (abs) with brake proportioning, which balances the braking front and rear. There are eight airbags: front, side-impact airbags for front and rear passengers, and curtain-style head protections airbags on each side. In short, the cts comes with the full complement of safety features expected in a modern luxury car. walkaroundthe cts brought cadillac's new art & science design vocabulary to the marketplace. Embodied in the controversial evoq concept car, art & science is a festival of wedges, sharp junctions and chiseled angles that can be seen throughout the generation of cadillacs that followed, starting with the cts. This edgy design is certainly distinctive. Love it or hate it, there's no confusing a new cadillac with anything else on the road.  for all its futuristic themes, art & science is supposed to hark back to the cadillac tradition of vertical headlamps and tail lamps, which dates from the late 1950s through the '60s. Viewed from the front, the cts is imposing, with its large louvered grille framed by sharp, vertical headlamps. The front air dam is all business, with simple rectangular foglights and a long narrow intake near the skirt.  the cts also has a short, high rear deck with tall, vertical tail lamps. The view from the rear is broken up by the indentation cut widely around the license plate in a contrasting color. The cts-v looks a bit better here, thanks to body colored plastic. The rear view is evocative either way.  yet given the power of the front and rear ends, the cts's slab sides seem a little weak in comparison. It looks best with the largest wheels (18 inches) available.  for 2006, the v6-powered cts can be trimmed with the look of the 400-horsepower cts-v, without the monster engine. We like the optional sport appearance package, with fat, 18-inch wheels, aggressive rocker moldings, dual exhaust tips and a rear spoiler, mostly because the v6-powered cts models deliver enough sporting performance to pull it off. There are also three new paint colors: radiant bronze, blackberry and the flashy but expensive infrared option 900). interiorthe angular theme obvious in the exterior styling continues inside the cadillac cts. If critics have panned any particular thing about the cts since its launch in 2003, it's the interior aesthetics. The cts is sold in europe and the interior reflects that. It projects an idea that driving is serious business. Visually, it's an austere cabin, lacking the warmness of the recently launched cadillac sts.  cadillac seems to have taken some of that criticism to heart, because many of the changes since the cts was introduced are focused inside. The appearance of the instrument cluster was improved for 2005, though the gauges remain clear, straightforward and easy to read. There are also softer color packages, including cashmere, introduced for 2006. As it is, the interior is a mix of high-tech textures, some dimpled like a golf ball. Many of the materials are soft and interesting to the touch.  beyond aesthetics, the hardware works great. There's good support for the driver's right leg, and it's soft where the right shin touches. There's a good support for the left leg as well, with a good dead pedal for the left foot. Enthusiast drivers appreciate these for the bracing they provide during a spirited drive.  the three-spoke steering wheel has buttons for the sound system and cruise control, and is deliciously padded in leather for all but the part of the rim between about 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock, which is trimmed in wood. Changing the temperature, adjusting the stereo or operating the navigation system is easy and convenient in the cts. The center stack juts out from the rest of the dash, with the elaborate gps navigation system at the top center location. Climate controls are at the bottom, adjusted with amber-lighted pictograms.  the stereo works well, allowing quick and easy switching from a news channel on xm satellite radio to music on fm to traffic on am to a cd. The small triangular speakers for the optional bose system are mounted on the a pillar, and look cool. Onstar is standard, allowing drivers to make hands-free, voice-activated calls. The system comes standard in cars equipped with the navigation system. A driver can enter a destination into the navigation system, and then, aided by a color-coded display, obtain instant traffic data on the preferred route. The map display will show average speed along that route, as well as accident locations, construction and heavy traf. 2006 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The retrowagon gets a facelift. introductionthe 2006 chrysler pt cruiser features its first significant facelift in six years. Inside and out, the new look is best described as more modern, but not so much so as to spoil the pt's toy-hot-rod fun.  chrysler pt cruiser combines the retro look of late-'30s american iron with modern performance, efficiency and features. It doesn't fit within existing automotive marketing segments.  the pt cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for sprightly performance. It comes in two body styles, a versatile five-door model and a two-door convertible.  the five-door model's tall body boasts lots of room for people and cargo. In fact, its interior volume and versatility compare well to a small suv. Yet the pt cruiser is shorter in length than a neon, making it easy to park. The lower-level models are competitively priced, and we think they make the most sense.  pricier turbocharged models add fire under the hood. For 2006, the fire has been turned up to 230 horsepower in the gt model. A more affordable 180-horsepower turbo is also available.  the convertible is one of the least expensive on the market. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags, a power glass sunroof, and most of the limited's luxury goodies. Leather sport seats are also standard. The gt convertible 27,930) comes with all the limited and gt sedan goodies, and for '06 its 17-inch wheels are chrome-plated, just like the sedan's.  optional on all convertibles and on limited and gt sedans is a new boston acoustics premium sound system (replacing last year's infinity system), but retaining the same 368-watt peak output. Sirius satellite radio is optional on all models this year 195, including a one-year subscribtion). Gps navigation 1100) is available on limited and gt; so is uconnect hands-free, in-vehicle communications 360), which uses bluetooth technology to link the user's cellular phone with the cruiser's stereo speakers. Limited sedans can be ordered with plastic woodgrain exterior accents 895) for the vintage town & country look. Many of the standard features on higher-line models are also available as options on the less expensive models.  safety features include front side-impact airbags, standard in gt and limited and optional 390) on the other models. Seatbelts should always be worn, however, and the pt cruiser comes with three-point safety harnesses at all positions, including the rear center position. The front belts have pyrotechnically charged tensioners, just like in luxury cars, to tighten the belts for the initial stages of an impact. T. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's or early 1940's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses.  the look has been refined for the 2006 models, but not drastically changed. Chrysler says the pt cruiser now has the face of chrysler, which seems to translate into a more horizontal-themed grille that no longer extends down below the bumper, topped by a more prominent chrysler eagle and flanked by gently scalloped headlamps. Round foglights now frame a horizontal slot in the bumper. Around back, a new body-color spoiler on the liftgate is said to improve aerodynamic efficiency.  in terms of exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon. Yet with 63 inches from the pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser sedan is also 7 inches taller than the neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the design of the convertible is quite a bit different from that of the sedan. The convertible looks shorter than the sedan, but isn't; maybe it's the single long door on each side that creates this illusion. It's certainly lower, by almost 3 inches, which certainly alters the looks. But there's a lot more to it than that: close examination reveals that the windshield is raked more radically and uses a different a-pillar design. With the top up, the convertible looks like a custom chopped-top hot rod. Pretty cool.  drop the top and the gangstermobile turns into a chick car. With its top down, the pt cruiser convertible's high tail and integrated sport bar remind us of the old volkswagen cabrio. But where the vw's side windows sealed against its sport bar, the chrysler's windows seal against each other for a more modern convertible profile. Its slightly narrower and color-keyed sport bar sits behind the windows, inside the car, and is aerodynamically designed to minimize wind noise. A nice boot is provided that dresses up the appearance with the top down. Less obvious improvements for 2006: all instruments are now bigger, the radio is mounted higher, the glovebox is larger, and the glovebox door is now damped.  the driver still faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The gt's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser's speedo goes to 120. Window switches are still high in the center stack, inconvenient for quick operation, forcing the driver to search for them. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The standard stereo sounds tinny; we haven't tried the new boston accoustics system. Also, there's a separate set button for the station presets, fussier than simply holding the preset down.  a bonus of the cruiser's tall profile is its upright seating position, with a fairly high view ahead, somewhat like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The gt also features a leather wrapped steering wheel with satin-silver spokes, and bright accents on the pedals.  a redesigned center console now incorporates a sliding armrest, replacing the seat-mounted armrests provided previously. The new console also includes a covered tray for concealing small items, a storage bin that holds six cds, a new coin holder and fold-out cup holders for rear-seat coffee.

2013 volkswagen beetle review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Convertible joins sleek, new lineup. introductionthe volkswagen beetle was completely redesigned for 2012. For 2013, beetle convertible joins the lineup.  as with the coupe, the 2013 beetle convertible is longer, lower and wider than the new beetle, which is what we called the old one that was phased out after the 2010 model year. It feels like a capsule inside than it did before.  front legroom is plentiful, but the beetle coupe's rear seat has just 31. 4 inches of legroom, which is 1. 9 inches less than the subcompact toyota yaris, on a wheelbase that's 1. 1 inches longer. Still, two adult passengers will fit back there; they just sit rather upright.  the rear hatch area of the beetle coupe is spacious at 15. 4 cubic feet. With the rear seat folded, the coupe has nearly 30 cubic feet of cargo space, and the high-swinging hatchback enables giant things to fit inside, making the coupe handy for hauling. The beetle convertible has a trunk with only 7. 1 cubic feet of space.  the beetle seats and trim are neat but not fancy. The bucket seats are simple and comfortable, with excellent bolstering.  instrumentation is so clean it's memorable for its rarity. In the center of the big clear speedometer there's a multi-function digital display, accessed with a flick of the driver's right thumb, scrolling a small wheel on the steering wheel. It makes for safe driving.  the 2. 5-liter inline five-cylinder engine, with an iron block and dual overhead cams, carries on, delivering 170 horsepower. Torque is 177 pound-feet at 4250 rpm. Acceleration with the 2. 5-liter engine is adequate, and 75 mph on the freeway is smooth and mostly effortless.  a 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, with a 6-speed automatic transmission optional. The automatic did not wow us. The automatic has manual shift capability, but it's done with side-to-side movements using the lever. It's better than nothing, but it's not racy. The manual gearbox is satisfying and gives the car pep when accelerating. We recommend the manual.  a 2. 0-liter turbo model is also available that comes with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automated manual that vw calls a dsg for direct shift gearbox. The turbo also has sportier suspension tuning. The 2. 0-liter turbocharged engine makes 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque at a low 1700 rpm, and it gets about the same fuel mileage as the 2. 5-liter engine although on more expensive premium gasoline. It's hot, with acceleration not far behind a mini cooper s.  also available is the tdi turbocharged direct-injection diesel engine, which delivers jaw-dropping torque and fuel mileage on the far side of 40 mpg. The 2. 0-liter turbodiesel delivers 236 pound-feet of torque. The tdi engine has been used successfully for some time in the golf and jetta models and is well-proven. It's clean and runs quietly.  coupe or convertible, the beetle chassis is rigid and the body solid, with subframes front and rear, supporting the suspensions. Vw did a lot of work to make the convertible impressively rigid.  the base coupe uses a torsion beam rear suspension, but the beetle turbo and all convertibles use a more sophisticated multi-link, for a higher threshold of cornering. The freeway ride in the base coupe doesn't suffer for the torsion beam. It's comfortable and consistent. Potholes don't hurt, but rough pavement can make the rear end of the coupe want to dance. The other models are more composed over rough pavement. lineupthe 2013 beetle model lineup includes 2. 5l, turbo and tdi models in coupe and convertible body styles with additional models defined by extra equipment. Special edition 1950s, '60s and '70s models are also available in the convertible lineup. The base engine is a 170-horsepower 2. 5-liter 5-cylinder. Turbos get a 200-horsepower 2. 0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Tdis are powered by a 2. 0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that makes 140 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.  the beetle 2. 5l coupe 19,795) comes with v-tex leatherette (vinyl) upholstery, air conditioning, tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, height-adjustable front seats with driver's side lumbar adjustment, heated front seats, split folding rear seat, heated power mirrors, power windows, power locks, remote keyless entry, am/fm/cd/mp3 player, auxiliary input jack, ipod interface, bluetooth cell phone link, theft-deterrent system, and p215/55hr17 tires on alloy wheels. The beetle 2. 5l convertible 24,995) adds an interior air filter, satellite radio, trip computer, outside-temperature indicator, rear spoiler, and a power convertible top.  the beetle coupe is offered with three additional 2. 5l models. They start with the 2. 5l sunroof 22,295), which adds a sunroof, a center console, keyless access and starting, satellite radio, and steering wheel audio controls. The 2. 5l fender edition 24,440) gets the sunroof equipment, plus a fender sound system, bi-xenon headlights, and p235/45r18 tires. The '50s edition 26,095) comes with tan leather upholstery, a center console, black paint, and unique alloy wheels inspired by steel wheels from the 1950s. The 2. 5l technology model 26,695) adds a center console, keyless access and starting, satellite and hd radio, and steering wheel audio controls. The 2. 5l sound/navigation 28,495) gets that equipment, plus a navigation system, the fender sound system and p235/45r18 tires. The '70s edition model 28,595) comes with the sound/navigation equipment, plus toffee brown paint, tan upholstery, and chrome disc-style wheels.  the turbo coupe 23,395) and convertible 27,795) add to the 2. 5l model fog lights, sport-tuned suspension, and p235/45hr18 tires. The coupe also gets cloth upholstery, a center console, and a rear spoiler. The turbo coupe is offered in sunroof/sound, fender edition and sunroof/sound/navigation models that mirror the equipment on similar 2. 5l models. The turbo convertible also gets a '60s edition model 32,395) with the navigation system, leather upholstery, 6-speed automated-manual transmission, center console, keyless access and starting, fender sound system, satellite and hd radio, and steering-wheel audio controls.  the tdi coupe 23,295) and convertible 27,895) add to the 2. 5l steering-wheel audio controls, center console, keyless access and starting, and satellite radio. The convertible also gets hd radio. Like the other models, the tdi is offered with additional equipment. The coupe comes as the tdi sunroof and tdi sunroof/sound/navigation models, while the convertible adds only the tdi sound/navigation model.  safety equipment on the coupe includes dual front airbags, front side airbags, antilock disc brakes, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, a tire-pressure monitor, and volkswagen's advanced intelligent crash response system that shuts off the fuel pump, unlocks the doors, and switches on the hazard lights under some crash situations. The convertible also adds automatic pop-up roll bars. It's not quite as cute and feminine, but it is just as identifiable as it's ever been. The coupe's coefficient of drag is 0. 37, a good number that still lags behind some competitors, and reveals the legacy of a round bug. The beetle convertible comes in at a close 0. 38 cd. The 2012 honda civic, by comparison, slips in under 0. 32. (a lower number is better.)  looking head-on at the beetle, it's wide and chubby enough that the lines are actually horizontal. A narrow black mouth under the bumper spans the face like a pinched grin, under perky headlamps like eyes, and a hood seam that seems to define a wide nose, having one chrome nostril with vw in it.  at profile, the good-looking roofline is like a stylish tight arc, reminiscent of the 2005 concept car called the ragster, which had the look of a chopped-top hot rod.  the wheel cutouts are perfect semi-circles dropping down toward the pavement. In contrast to the smooth curves of sheet metal everywhere else, the fender flares have squared edges, offering contrasting definition to the shape.  the beetle coupe might be called a hatchback. The rear gate is massive. Vw had to make no compromises to the car's shape for the utility of cargo loading. When the hatch is closed, it flows invisibly into the car's roundness.  the convertible, on the other hand, has a trunk that sits below the hold for the convertible soft top. The top opens in just 9. 5 seconds and closing in 11 at speeds up to 31 mph. It's like the old bug, in a welcome way.  volkswagen does gauges well, and the beetle's are super clean. There's a big speedometer in the center, insanely optimistic at 160 mph, with organic white numbers and red needles. A small tach sits to the left of the speedo, balanced on the right by a big analog fuel gauge. The tdi has an additional instrument pod with oil temperature and turbo boost gauges, plus a.

2000 jeep grand cherokee review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It just keeps going and going and going. introductionwhen we're all old and gray they're still going to be selling these things. Jeep cherokee is a case study in how long a solid design can remain viable, even when some of its elements have become dated. Cherokees sprouted in suburban driveways like mushrooms. Jeep sold more than 165,000 cherokees in 1999 - more than what it sold the year before. The reason: it's tough as nails and starts at less than $17,000. Se comes with wind-up windows and vinyl upholstery. Air conditioning is optional.  sport models add the new 4. 0-liter six-cylinder engine along with premium cloth. Sport models come packaged with air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, remote keyless entry, a tilt steering column and a rear wiper washer. Classic adds a higher level of trim and nicer cloth.  limited models come with leather upholstery and other features. And in international markets, as well. Square, tough and durable.  the cherokee was the first unitbody sport-utility vehicle, as distinct from the traditional body-on-frame approach. There are two levels of 4wd available for the cherokee, part-time command-trac and full-time selec-trac. interiorcherokee's interior shows its age and comes up a little short in the comfort department. It was hard to perceive its interior as cramped or awkward, because by the standards of the day they weren't. Times have changed, however. Suvs have become luxurious station wagons. Without a major redesign, the cherokee hasn't kept up with that trend. Newer entries place a high priority on comfort. Compared to them, the cherokee measures up as pretty snug, particularly in the rear seat.  it's also uncomfortable for the driver. Adjust as we might we were never quite able to achieve an ideal driving position. Cherokee's limited front seat travel left us sitting closer than we wanted to be, and reaching up for the wheel rim. The primary instruments are a bit small, but the secondary array is a little more comprehensive than average, including an ammeter and oil pressure gauge.  it's possible to load the cherokee with comfort and convenience features, including a good sound system with cassette and cd players, air conditioning, power driver's seat, an overhead digital info center and two digital clocks. All of this stuff makes the going more pleasant, but we'd trade most of it for better seats. In fact, we suspect some people would dismiss the cherokee as choppy on this score, and mark it down to a relatively short wheelbase. That would be true -- as far as it goes. However, this is not an explorer, a sport-utility vehicle designed for people who see this breed as trendy station wagons. The combination of good ground clearance, short wheelbase and a favorable power-to-weight ratio make this boxy little veteran a tiger in the woods. As always, we'd prefer a manual transmission.  power notwithstanding, the cherokee's optional six-cylinder engine feels a little primitive compared to most of the v6 engines offered by jeep's competitors. An inline-6 is supposed to be an ideal design for smooth operation, but jeep's version generates noticeable vibration through most of its operating range. It's also surprisingly quick with the six-cylinder engine.  lack of caution in the option shopping process can escalate its price beyond reason; $27,000 seems like a lot to spend on one of these. And at that price, even with its limitations, the jeep cherokee still stacks up as a good buy. model lineup4-door 4wd: se 19,230); sport 21,570); classic 23,040); limited 25,365)4-door 2wd: se 17,720); sport 20,060); classic 21,525); limited 23,245)2-door: 4wd se 18,195); 4wd sport 20,535); 2wd se 16,680); 2wd sport 19,025). assembled intoledo, ohio. options as testedam/fm/cd/cassette with graphic equalizer 410); infinity premium speakers 350); up country suspension group 725) includes heavy-duty suspension with gas shocks, deletes standard rear stabilizer bar, skid plate group (transfer case, fuel tank, front suspension skid plates), trak-lok differential, heavy-duty engine cooling, full-size spare tire, tow hooks. model testedcherokee sport 4wd 4-door 25,365).
